Osteoarthritis / Osteoporosis

Osteoarthritis /

Signs and Symptoms:
Generalised aches and pains, stiffness, nerve pains, pain with exercise or at rest. Changes in posture and sometimes a bony enlargement of the affected joints can occur.

Common Causes:
General wear and tear, aging process, manual jobs, repetitive strain mechanisms, athletes, smoking, poor lifestyle, overweight, post-menopausal women.

How We Can Help:
We would examine the spine, muscles, joints and nerves. Once we diagnose and pin point the root of the problem, we can gently adjust the spine and manipulate the muscles to relieve the tension and pain. We would often advise upon specific exercises to strengthen and rehabilitate the spine and joints to keep them as healthy as possible. It is important to avoid as many aggravating factors as possible to reduce inflammatory triggers and assist in the healing phase.

Bone density scans through your GP can offer guidance for implementing dietary and exercise programmes to assist with osteoporosis and their associated risk factors.
